January Update 2021
I am not accepting new clients at this time. Contact me to be added to the wait-list. Stay safe everyone!
Over the years, I have worked with individuals and groups who come from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and spiritual backgrounds and families.
At this time, I am offering individual counselling for adults only. See rates for more information.
As a trauma therapist with social justice principles, I strive to provide accessible services for clients who are queer (LGBTQ2S+) and/or of any gender identity or expression, and/or who are Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour or folks of mixed ancestry. I also offer services on a sliding scale, connect to be added to the wait-list.
I have over two decades of experience providing individual, group, and team support and community organizing; I am dedicated to creating safer spaces for people of all communities, bodies, and backgrounds.
People seek counselling for a wide range of reasons. It is not uncommon to experience periods of depression and anxiety; these are natural responses as we grow and make changes in our lives. Sometimes we require extra support due to feeling perplexed, overwhelmed, or simply stuck in a rut. Counselling is often about personal growth and working to gain a clearer sense of what you need or want from life.
For some, counselling is sought after a traumatic event or an unexpected change in life that has caused distress and uncertainty. Other times we may need to deal with an on-going situation that has become a source of constant stress. Whatever the situation, we will work together to make sense of what is happening and find a way to move forward.
How I work
My approach is integrative, strengths-based and collaborative. I tailor approaches to suit each client’s unique needs. Theoretical orientations such as Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Psychotherapy, Attachment Theory, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Multicultural Therapy and additional emergent research in neuroscience all inform my practice.
As a trauma-informed therapist with a holistic lens, I consider a person’s mind, body, spirit, and emotions in the healing process. Somatic psychotherapy is a holistic therapeutic approach that considers the body to be a healing resource, thus, mind-body practices complement traditional talk therapy. An anti-oppressive approach acknowledges that humans are impacted by larger social, environmental, and cultural factors and works towards mitigating their affects.
Above all, I respect that you are the expert of your own life. It is important that you find our work together useful. I will check in with you to see how the process is going so we can course correct as needed.
Areas of Practice
Psychedelic Integration Counselling
I can support the assimilation of insights into your life, through psychological and somatic processing, after an experience of a non-ordinary state of consciousness or a transformational experience, instigated by a psychedelic or entheogenic substance.
